Transforming Lives:  Ending Poverty Through Systemic Change.   Coming Together to Get Ahead is a mentoring program that uses Bridges Out of Poverty’s well-established program: “Getting Ahead in a Just Gettin’ by World.”  Participants examine their experience & personal resources and those of their community, and develop plans to move to greater self-sufficiency over 18 weekly sessions. Graduates are assigned a  mentor, who serves as a friend and connector to community resources.  The program operates in Peoria.
